January 2008
No updates in ages! Apologies.
So reClock as you know it is changing - we're still working on an album... but we're going for a cut down version dance oreintated setup. The existing rig simply takes too long and too much effort to setup and carry around with us. *sigh*

Still had great fun a the last Hobbit Jam! See you in April!

Monday 14th May
Album progress is good - we have the following tracks confirmed:
- Sevens
- Played Squared
- Africostal
- Lockjaw
- Conniefunk
- Mig

If theres one you think should be on the list please let us know!

Monday 16th April
Killer gig on the weekend - hope you made it to the Hobbit. We nailed most songs and the sound out front was fantastic. The Brighton gig on Wednesday is our last in a while so we can put some time into the new album which should feature most the songs in our current set. Sweet!

Friday 30th March
Having a bit of trouble with the site at the moment as you can see :(
Should be fixed shortly.

Tuesday 13th March
New tracks up in the members section from the last Bristol gig. We've also put up the clip of the young scallywags who thought we were miming to a backing track. Heh.

Monday 5th March
Big weekend, big night out at Mr Wolfs. We had a crazy crazy crazy time. Here is a list of 'interesting' things that happened that night:

- The keyboard rig crashed resulting in no keys for 20 minutes
- The laptop running jamma overheating half way through Africostal and shutting down!
- The mixer keyboard strip stopped working
- Dodgy loop channels causing distortion
- Drunk girls dancing on equipment while we trying to pack up
- A drunk random sweaty punter jumping on the drums and playing them badly for our last song (how rude!?)
........and finally, my all time favourite:
- Drunk punters heckling and thinking we were playing to backing tracks (Young Bristol Ignorami)

Having said that it was still a bloody great night and some sexy recordings to prove it - expect a new version of 9 Lives, and a few more in the members section this week, including an amusing clip of the drunk un-educated youths who clearly had no clue what was going on and thinking we were a large karaoke band.

Friday 2nd March
The Spring dates are forming up nicely.... new clubs in Bath and Brighton over the next few weeks.
Still looking for that illusive London venue though. Might be playing at some festivals this year as well. How much fun!?

Monday 29th Jan 2007
Still coming down from the Porters gig last weekend. Great fun! Lots of sweat and good grooves were had by all.
FOUR tracks from this gig up in the members section and one for the rest of you:

hookahetiquette live @ Porters - Connie slaps his bitches up

Udu Lessig
Inspired by Matts new Udu - highly polished slick groove.

Iceman
Lovely dub feel - very full

Cop Story
Simon edited this to hell post mix - still sounds like a 70s cop chase theme to me.

Friday 22nd December 2006
Quick update time - some great events lined up for the first quarter of '07! Check out the gigs page.
We have been working hard on some slick live material so expect some new stuff Jan 07.

Wow - recovering from the Bath / Bristol mini tour - GREAT FUN.
Thanks for coming to a couple of sweet shows. Will hopefully be back in town as soon as we can.

The recordings sound fat too, so expect some new gig tracks in the members section next week.

Friday 26th October
Been ages since an update! But there are now another gigs worth of mp3s in the members section
Had some GREAT feedback about the last gig, so hopefully the tracks will reflect the feeling night.

And for those non members heres one of the most chilled tracks tracks we've ever done live.
hummarday2.mp3 - Kat turns to a conman with no memory of his previous existence

Looking forward to our Bristol and Bath gigs - really dissapointing to have a couple of other Southampton ones cancel last minute. We really need a manager :)

Friday 22nd September
We now have evenings confirmed in Bath, Bristol and London with probabals in Brighton and Manchester - things are looking good, and with getting a possible full time vocalist, we are looking up and up!

Expect some sweet juicy recordings from the Southampton Hobbit event next weekend, with support from local beat-head DJ Chix
http://www.djchix.co.uk/

Monday 23rd August
We are now taking bookings for a big Autumn tour in November and will be looking to play in the following cities:

Southampton, Bristol, Bath, Brighton, Brummy, London, Manchester and any where else we can think of.

If you know a suitable venue near you and want to see us do the crazy stuff live then please get in touch!

In the meantime here's a new version of an old track from a recent gig that is too good to toss away.

FlockNorth.mp3 - Crazy sax from Matt, crazy vox from Conrad, crazy drumming from Simon. Oh and crazy Alex keeping it all together

Tuesday 11th July
A big Beggars Fair thank you to those who came along, booed, hissed, cheered and croaked along with us. Freddie the Frog and his Magic Feather seemed to go down very well - Holly our Narrator was a star - thank you!

Any feedback from the day is always appreciated - there are some photos knocking around somewhere but I think they want cash for them - but they are hysterical so we will see if we can get hold of any.

Monday 3rd July
Just uploaded a carefully polished studio track featuring a great udu sound. Smooth soupfunk electro with some cuts from Lawrence Lessig giving one of his famously stirring free culture speeches. Track to be played on repeat!!
udulessig.mp3

Tuesday 27th June
Pythons, mulitcores, wireless units and spanish senoritas have been distracting us lately. But here's a live track from the Orange Rooms Krafty Kuts reopening gig. Fat fat sound.
mig3.mp3

Thursday 11th May
First edit from the Amadeus gig - a new version of allguns2.mp3

This one sounds pretty damn tight, lots of nice effects and its difficult to believe its all played live - remember we use NO SEQUENCERS or crappy samples to generate our sounds. So THERE. Disbelievers...
Shit I sound like Stan Lee.

More soon... including a big load of funky poop still stuck in Simon's pipe.

Monday 8th May
A big friendly shout out to everyone who came to the Amadeus Centre gig - it was a night of firsts and things went suprisingly smoothly. The first time we had used out shiny new mixer case, our shiny new rack case, our shiny new jamma c interface, our shiny new van, and even our shiny new multicores.

That won't mean much to anybody - but needless to say we have now got the setup time to just under an hour!

We also met some great new people including the amaingly talented Gideon Conn. Check him out at
http://www.gideonconn.com/

He drew an amazing picture of us playing (as we were playing!) that shall shortly be scanned and put up for your viewing pleasure.

We have a few tracks worth editing and putting up so expect some new treats shortly...

Thursday 27th April
reClock music features heavily in a short film entered in a BBC competition.
Check it out >>

We have plenty of tracks coming up in the pipeline but Simon laid a fat one and it seems to be blocking the rest from popping out into the brown sea of melodies.

We've got a few tasty gigs coming up next month including an amazing one at the Amadeus Centre in London. Check the gigs page for more info

Thursday 13th April
Jon pulls up outside the studio and grabs the drum throne in Simons absence, and a deep tronica track emerges...

hoovamanuva.mp3
- Deep beneath the city sprawl, the vacuum builds its own crescendo

Friday 31st March
This one came out of a jam of underdeep, which is another one we've been practicing. Have a listen to underdeep and then this new one and see if you can spot any similarities - no thought not.

Wednesday 29th March
New website eh? Not bad... check out the graph thing on the left.
Plus another track hot off the streets of LA.

negashiva.mp3 - Banana shaped bass/drum groove with low end GUTS

Monday 27th February
'Lack of tracks' you say? Well we have been BUSY with a capital P. P for Practice that is.
The 10,000 signature petition to get us to cover our own songs means Matt succumbs and we actually spend some time in the Towers learning parts. Good lord.
So for all you Mailing List Subscribees there is a 'practice' version of one of best in your INBOX.

For the rest of the planet:

lollydolly.mp3 - Jammed remixed cowbell commencing dance pulses. Featuring our new hippy-loving friend Loren on heavily gated vocals.

We are currently making some radical changes to the way we deliver music online so watch this space. No not that one. THIS one.

shedyourlight.mp3 - Live Bouncy Latin Dub Nonsense

If you get too cold, the quickest way to sort yourself out is to pour extra virgin (never even seen a man) oil all over yourself and jump in the frying pan. You'll have to frantically jump around to avoid the flames and grievous bodily harm, so beware.

soakedinoil.mp3 - Broken beat A(cold)/B(hot) section, big sound.

Friday 3rd February
A special package special delivery.... special.
Largely unedited grooves from our last Orange Rooms Gig on 29th January 2006.

Monday 30th January
Sorry - no new tracks for you.. yet.

Not that we haven't been busy - two great gigs this month, one dodgy CD burner and a crazy breakdancing session at the Hobbit all add up to an interesting couple of nights.

We have some *great* recordings from the Orange Rooms last night - possibly the best yet so expect a whole host of new and interesting tracks some time this week.

We are also going to start releasing some exclusive tracks for members of the mailing list so sign up now if you haven't already done so.

Tuesday 10th January
Having begun to have difficulties keeping so many things in the air at one time using only his two scrawny arms, we told jim to go out and get a big trampoline. This of course immediately tripled the number of things he could keep airborne, and tripled the choas for us. Here are another couple of bitties that finally made it back to earth:

zipjungle.mp3 - Atmospherica and deeply groovy, live from the bush.

highgear.mp3 - A hectic live one with Kat and Sophie guesting.

Monday 9th January
Simon frogmarched the tracks to the end of the gangplank, cutlass in hand and parrot on shoulder. They didn't stand a chance.

iceman.mp3 - ONETWOTHREEFOUR don't lose the groove on the back of your wild pony racing with dolphins by the sea.
(Mix - Spacey clip clop ambient groove)

evolution.mp3 - Percussion>Scratch>Ambient>Quirky>HappyFunk
(Mix - Trance / dub funk Mishmash)

magiccarpet.mp3 - Was it a dream or did it really happen? Only the peacock feather in his pyjama pocket told the truth.
(Mix - Ambient drugged up sparcity)

Thursday 4th January
With a backlog of tracks still to mix, expect a healthy dose of your reClock medicine right through January. The tracks below need to be taken before lunch, dinner and once before bed.

(Live - Uplifting warm / stringy groove)

Saturday 31st December

Tracks of the Year

We had a long hard think about our favourite tracks of 2005. Here they are, in no particular order, complete with reasons why we love 'em.

FlockSouth
Alex: Live track with many technical difficuties that came out a treat. You can even hear Matt asking 'Whats going on?' as the drum trigger starts failing...
Matt: The sounds just get so layered, you can imagine these

PlayedSquared
Simon : Love it.
Alex : This one is really interesting as Matt and Si have a completely different beat one to mine. I mixed it to mine though. Tough.

ShrivelUp
Alex: Simon's original description said it all. Blinding track. Live one that (after a little editing) sounds like a studio one.

MTVDinner
Alex: One night wonder. From the golden days of the Alma Road studio.

JetJump
Matt: I still listen to it lots, almost begins to sound normal.
Alex: Nice time signature and lush sounds from the Jones.

TheMinisterOfFunk
Alex: One of the few tracks with decent spoken vocal samples - I was really chuffed with the synth solo at the end.

Oberpol2
Matt: Almost signature jungle sound we've been working on with lots of different sections.

Hummarday & IceRodent
Alex: Both came from the same 2 hour jam with Katarina and captured a great vibe that we had all night.

Astronomy101
Alex: overall favourite live sax solo. You can even hear Matt asking Katarina to hit the record pedal as they were sharing the same mike that evening.

Friday 16th December
While the Hobbit tracks worth mixing are slowly being roasted over an open fire by SantaMaster Simon we bring you possibly the last track of the year.

playedsquared.mp3 - Bounce bobble gurgle serious fun

Which brings us to a total of 71 tracks in 2005.
Thanks for listening, have a great New Year and don't forget to buy something nice for Uncle Remus.

Friday 2nd December
Yet more oddities from reClock towers. We have a backlog of tracks to mix and another weekend of jamming to add to the stockpile. These two bring the grand total to:
150 tracks!

We shall be celebrating by releasing 20 white doves into the air above the studio...
or having a beer. Whichever is easiest.

jagger.mp3 - Blip blop twang ham sandwich with extra magic mushrooms
dawnraid.mp3 - Wing Commander Higgen-Smythe relates the tale of the first ever bombing raid over Berlin in December 1940 to his grandchildren using matchsticks with small flies attached to simulate the dogfighting.

Monday 28th November
After a nationwide search involving milk cartons and Basil Brush (who was great to work with by the way) Orange Disc number 2 turns up in time for the Prom Queen award wearing a pink and purple lounge suit. To cut a long one short he doesn't get a dance.

So here we go...........................................
Final tracks from last gig plus more TowerJam churn-outs for your wash day pleasure.

lockjaw3a.mp3 -We like to pull it out of our hairy bag when you least expect.
(Orange Room live set.)
shopofcheese.mp3 - If cheese could talk... would Alex be a murderer?
(Orange Room live set.)
dolfinarium.mp3 -underwater acoustics burps
auger.mp3 -monsoon skooter fun
manwithtwofaces.mp3 - Just when you think you know someone.

Monday 21st November
First two live tracks from our first Orange Rooms session. This was the first time that the new version of jamma (jamma_c) has been used and it went, erm, smoothly. So it won't be long until the new version is ready for beta testing, a couple of things remain to iron out.
It was a nice venue to play, thanks to all staff and those who made it there.

pitstop.mp3 - There's usually a bit of nastiness going on at the NASCAR races. Having to deal with the last round of the amphibious assault course with a pair of alligators trailing your hotrod canoe only makes it better.

defcon12.mp3 - Shields up, red alert, phasers set to stun. We have a blonde with severe cleavage on the loose and Alex is a willing target.

Emergency on Planet reClock: 2nd set is still AWOL. Can it be found before Prom night?

Monday 14th November
We now have tickets for the Orange Rooms gig - should be cheaper to buy them from us beforehand so get in touch!

A couple of CHILLED TO THE MAX (!?) jams from last week with Katarina.

icerodent.mp3 - Poor Geoffery - he buried his nuts far too deep in the ground, and with the onset of winter frost finds the retrieval process extremely tiresome.

hummarday.mp3 - After mistaking valium for Trebor Extra Strong Mints, King Hummar 2nd has one of the most relaxing days on the throne he can remember and gives his entire populace the week off to waterksi and play with puppies.

Saturday 29th October
Some new directions and different sounds coming out in the latest tracks. Every studio has its own sound and the new one (reClock Towers), after a long time of silence, is beginning to churn out its new breed of jungle and other influences:

theheist.mp3 - Jaws grinded and nerves tested as the big plot is hatched to steal Kongs banana stash.
seasick.mp3 - After 3 weeks hiding in the hold as a stowaway with nothing but sesame seeds for sustenance, Mrs Maureen Wilderhay ventures on deck to find that the crew have vanished, she can now talk to birds, play virtuoso piano and has nothing but a harpsichord and a set of Agatha Christie novels to keep her company on the long voyage through uncharted waters.
origin357b.mp3 - While researching the Legend of Atlantis in the Cypriot National Archives Professor Reynolds stumbles across a 3000 year old manuscript that when read backwards and compressed through a vocoding pixelatron invertajazzmatroid reveals the secret of why snakes don't like funk.
mrflimpskettle.mp3 - Mr Flimp makes haste into town to buy a new kettle after the discovery of strange and scary life forms living in his old one.
oberpol2.mp3 - electronica dirty jam of an old favourite.

Apologies for the lack of updates, expect many more on a regular basis from now on.

Saturday 27th August
In the storms the lorries have been unloading the supplies from the quarry while the labourers tea-lessly toil in the dark. The awesome view of the reclock towers studio complex looming, beginning to dominate the foggy twilight skyline. Dim orange light reveals the trains continuing to roll, each day carrying more tunes to the publics ears. Now quite a while since the last murmur was heard, nonetheless progress is stubbornly progressing and the dawn of the new possibilities is closing in. The last tracks from the old-way-of-doing-things, all new live loop performances:

agentorange.mp3 - The few survivors on earth begin the evacuation to outer space.
leapfrog.mp3 - Taggin a ride to the party with sand in your hair, salt in your eyes.
flocksouth.mp3 - One birds unforgettable adventure over beautiful sunset distant lands on the long flight home.
elephantattic.mp3 - Whats that sound? stomp plod jiggle jive.
driplipstick.mp3 - Private party locked in a room with a selection of techno gadgets and just a wooden spoon to help you out.
opulentmug.mp3 - After falling asleep on his desk, Kevin wakes and realises with a panic he urgently has to rebuild his life starting with dumping his money out of an aeroplane over Nicaragua
roadtohelterskelter.mp3 - All roads lead to the last ride where the limo takes a final tour of the showground and heads back.

This was a really memorable night in the Hobbit one of our most relaxed fun gigs to date. Back for some more in Autumn!

Friday 29th July
Ok the truth is out there, the SoBar gig recordings prove it (reverse order):

outerfondulia.mp3 - Pitch-shifted hectic jazzy DnB, images of runaway trains and sped up transformers cartoons.
primationpart1.mp3 - Jumped up funked up monkey love.
primationpart2.mp3 - Sunny orgasmic coconut party.
kribbens.mp3 - Jetpack stalling in mid air while holding a strawberry ice cream.
necessarymeans.mp3 - Chased down back alleys at night, supergran hot on the trail.
nobbysdayoff.mp3 - Nobby goes to Africa in search of a rare cheese.
bunnyinasuitcase.mp3 - Coochy koo fluffy bunny all wrapped up in a velvet flannel.
vunderbra.mp3 - Whizzed up in search of a horny space chick.

Thanks a lot to everyone for coming down, and big smiles to Katarina who came up with some great vocal stuff!

Monday 11th July
Well we've now recovered from the Beggars Fair experiment. I think it went down very well - I particularly liked the sword / knife fighting part and the Romsey Fanfare. Big thanks to Holly for narrating who did such a good job she pulled twice apparently.

Hope you enjoyed it if you were there, we had great fun, apparently we might have photos soon.

IF YOU BOUGHT A reClock VOLUME ONE CD
There were a couple of duffs going round so if you find you can't play your CD please get in touch and we will mail you a decent one in the post. Big apologies for this...

Friday 3rd June
Simon, the backbone of general funky gappiness and now a serious guru after spending significant time in the far east perfecting the nose flute and lathering himself in rice, gets TOO LITTLE CREDIT around here. This time he's responsible for cheering us all up considerably by proving how phat some of those tunes at the gig really were and uploading some real syruppy treats. Five tracks in total from the last Hobbit performance!

darkness.mp3 - Electronica kettle kicking kaoss.
everyday.mp3 - Swishy choppy number, kind of similar feel to having the underside of your foot nibbled by a small animal with 2 rows of about 7 teeth.
insectivore.mp3 - Moody beings from another planet armed to the teeth with carnage-inducing apparatus.
shrivelup.mp3 - Blinding track.
springtime.mp3 - SpeedyHappyCheese. Great live drumming from john and tamb.

Plus an old studio track from Simon and Matt in the old project II days. This is a chopped down version of the original but is included here because it seems in keeping with the groove approach, and we just want to share one of the barkiest beats ever recorded!!!

triballs.mp3 - Dark, deeply groovy electronica tribal foot stomper

Wednesday 1st June
A new one deemed siteable!

muddychoochoo - Spacious stabby rocket science

Tuesday 31st May
Big hellos to everyone we met at the last Hobbit gig - thanks for your support.

We might be getting some live tracks up soon if we can be bothered to sort out the shambolic recording. I blame Alex who blames Matt who blames John who blames Simon who blames me (Alex). So as you can see, its my fault.

We did a couple of post gig tracks on Sunday and Monday night but they weren't very good so you're never going to get to listen to them even though I did a mix down. So there....

Wednesday 11th May
Well the rift in the space time continuum behind the sofa holds many delights. Another live track from the last gig! Feel the thunder...

combatzone - Upbeat funk groove feat. Katarina

Monday 9th May
You could say caked in brown skin. You could also say we returned with a serious kit upgrade, which includes an electronic drum kit (to be mixed with the acoustic set) and an army of percussion instruments including the funky Udu. To cut a long beard short:

dailygrime - Undercover tribal dance (feat. Udu and electronic kit).
avoidancetactics - Laid back disco beats.

Finally a very late live track that got lost down the back of the sofa!

nuevachulo - Late evening Cuban crossover.

Wednesday 26th April
As John, Matt and Alex visit Barcelona to pick up their yearly bag of Grade A Crack we leave with you a couple of little ditties...

uphillstruggle - Ditty type A. Highly contagious.
sunburn - Ditty variant B. Equally deadly in small doses.

Wednesday 20th April
Some new chunks of delicious goodness for your musical vitamin needs.

bitesize - dirty electric funk
mindthegap - chilled trip electronica
hangoverman - atmospheric randomness
itchybitchy - frantic dance funk scratchness

And we’ve got another gig at The Hobbit - Saturday 28th May.
Should feature the UK debut of our new midi drum kit which will spice things up...

Friday 1st April
Listen, see the man sitting next to you, next minute he's a star, a spectacle. Sparking the flow, moves so he forgets where he goes. So visualise the anthem, holding the mics to ransom, our man Resco spittin' for the reClock crew, whose intuition provokes within a search of pure wisdom. This is our first performance with Resco, on a joint search for the mythicalconception.

Also, here's a bit of consolation for that rank meal bought with your precious Giro. mtvdinner (lounge d&b)

Another track from the gig, one of my faves:
10waystoskinakat (upbeat slice 'n dice)

By the way, that brings us to 102 tracks online!! We're still working out a suitable way to celebrate...

Yes, there's a lot of news this week. Jamma_C development (the new version of Jamma) has once again commenced and we already have many features not available in the old version (no April fools here), like:

  • User control of channels, number of loops, looplength and hundreds of other things in a new setup menu GUI.
  • GUI elements like dials indicating record/play position
  • Global pitch control (oh yes)
  • Fully interpolated log faders
  • Even faster VU Meters
Still got to get manual control (easy) and load/save of loops (hard) working, not to mention getting it to work on platforms other than Win32, although it should do this with little hassle. Expect screenshots soon!
